About Funke Mayaki, (Education Consultant)

Funke Mayaki is a leading education consultant specializing in counselling and recruitment of students wishing to study at leading UK boarding schools and tutorial colleges.  We assist with admission into all year groups including IGCSE classes, A Levels, the International Baccalaureate and University Foundation Programmes.

We are currently associated with several reputable UK institutions.

We assist suitably qualified students and their parents/sponsors by providing them with information, counselling and guidance so that they are able to make informed choices about schools and colleges most suited to the student’s academic ability and interests.

We guide our clients through all stages involved in going to the UK to study. We organize entrance tests and schools visits, offer advice on accommodation, Guardianship, visa applications and give pre-departure briefings. Our aim is to make the entire process as stress-free as possible.

How can we help you?

We specialize in pre-university courses such as GCSEs/IGCSEs, A levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and University Foundation programmes. We are UK boarding school specialists.
• If a student does not do as well as expected in their SSCE, IGCSEs or A levels we will help identify suitable schools so that they can re-take the exams.
• We place students of all ages into preparatory (primary) schools, Independent secondary schools, sixth form/tutorial colleges, International study centres and universities offering the above programmes.
• You can also apply to take part in academic and cultural summer courses in the UK.
There are several academic and non-academic factors you should consider when choosing a school.
• We work with our clients to arrive at the best choice for the individual student. We will discuss your particular requirements and take them into consideration when making recommendations.
• We will guide you through all stages of the admissions process, taking the stress off you.
There is a school for everyone, what suits one person may not be the best for another!
• We have visited several schools and met with staff of many more, giving us a good idea of what they are like.
• From time to time we host staff of UK schools, giving parents and students the opportunity of meeting them in Nigeria. These visits are usually advertised.
• Please make an appointment to meet with our Consultant. We will ask you to complete our registration form, providing us with as much information as possible. A consultancy fee is also payable.
• We would like to meet and have a chat with every applicant at some point during the application process.
• School entrance requirements vary but could include recent school reports, academic transcripts, mock results, predicted grades, References, results of any external examinations taken including English language tests, information about leadership positions held, extra curricular activities and interests such as sports, music and community service.
• If your child has special education needs you will be required to provide a report from an Educational Psychologist.
• Some boarding schools require students to take entrance tests. These tests can be done at our office or the British Council or the student’s current school.
The earlier you begin the application process the better.
• You will be provided with application forms, school prospectuses and all the information you require for your application.

• All you need to do is fill in the application forms and return them to us with the stated requirements. We will submit the forms and liaise with the schools on your behalf.
• Registration fees and school fees must be paid directly to the schools.
• If you wish to visit some schools, we can make appointments on your behalf.
• We will provide you with regular feedback on your applications and let you know what to do next.
We recommend that you apply at least one year before your proposed start date. When you apply early you are more likely to get a place at the school of choice.
• Some boarding schools have set dates beyond which they will no longer accept applications.
• For boarding schools, scholarship tests tend to take place in October or November of the year before entry.
If you have left your application till late, don’t worry, places may still be available! We will do our best to identify a good, suitable school.
We provide advice on student visa applications. Please remember to leave enough time for your application.
• Contact us today and let us guide you through the process of making this very important decision.
